Power LED but no BOOT
#1
I am having the same problem as many people here. When I press power button there is light but the ACEPC AK1 does not boot. I cannot enter bios or anything. F7 does not work. I have read all the other threads and I know now what is the problem here.

When I installed mSATA drive I was able to clone successfully. I then restarted and switched to "Windows Boot Manager mSata Drive". Windows 10 automatically did startup repair.

In windows I then had two drives C: windows(32gb) original drive and D: windows New mSATA drive

Since these were both had the same name this was very confusing to me. So I changed the 32gb orginal drive name to Old windows.

Now when I reboot the PC no longer works.

I believe the problem is this ACEPC AK1 uses special "Windows Boot Manager System" in the BIOS

So even with the new mSATA drive it still searches for the original drive to tell it that the proper boot drive is the new mSATA

With my drive being renamed this causes an error resulting in no booting.

Without the ability to power on the PC or get into BIOS I do not know how to proceed.

So I tested 3 different bootable USB sticks(Windows10 install USB, Bootable Minitool Partition ISO, EaseUS Bootable Partition Master)
Non of these will activate boot or allow me to enter BIOS.

I then Disconnect the battery from back of the motherboard for 3 minutes. Reassembeled and attempted to boot. Still nothing.

Im stuck for the next steps. Ive downloaded the bios supplied on the Tech Support page for the ACEPC AK1 however since it doesnt recognize the USB drive nothing will work here.

It appears to me this is a flaw of BIOS/UEFI/GPT/MBR situation that I completely do not understand.

If you have further advice to help my situation that would be much appreciated.

For future devices and models I believe you could save many people HOURS of headaches by just installing a 128gb mSata as the main drive during manufacturing. Then increase the cost of the device by $40 and nobody will ever be bothering you for all these problems.

You absolutely must find the possibility to select the boot disk.
By removing the SSD, is it possible to access the bios? Is Windows still installed on the original eMMC storage?

I will test this when in the office today. I did not change anything on eMMC disk except the name.  Thanks for the tip. I will remove mSATA and see what happens and reply back here.

I have completed the test as you suggested. Removed mSata drive and attempted boot. Does not work.

I disconnected bios battery for 3 mins and attempted boot again. No luck. It appears the device is not working at all.

Do you have more suggestions here or will you contact me via email for more discussion?

I want to post here as advice to others who may consider buying the ACEPC AK1. I have had an excellent experience with the Amazon seller. I would suggest purchasing from them. They were extremely helpful and understanding to help me figure out the issues with my device. Glad to see them backing up the product and making sure every customer is satisfied.

Did you renamed eMMC as C: like original configuration? In order to boot from this support, you have to select this "drive" as first disk .

Hello,
I have exactly SAME situation now. After successful installing msata and clone windows. All is worked. After 4x restart the acepc is not started. The bios is not shown. I have no possibility to select bootable device. Nothing.
Where is placed setup? It was placed on mmc or is it part of some internal chip? Because I already formatted mmc card.

Try to disconnect the battery for several minutes... Maybe bios will be restored?
